For children from 2 years old, the children's bookcase should be a maximum of 80–100 cm high, so that the child can reach the books independently and return them. The Montessori approach recommends displaying books with the cover facing forward - the child sees the whole book and chooses them himself. For older children from 5 years old, higher shelves up to 150 cm with a combination of shelves and boxes are suitable.
How to choose a toy shelf for a child's room?
Key criteria are stability (the shelf must be anchorable to the wall), height appropriate to the child's age, and type of storage. Open shelves work best for toys that you want to keep in sight and easily accessible. Boxes or baskets on shelves are ideal for small items - blocks, figures, or Lego. Choose the material according to the style of the room - wooden shelves are more durable, laminated ones are easier to clean.
